What is Vocation?
Introduction to the Project
Types of Research
The Vocation in College Project is a multi-phased research exploration of vocation in the college student experience. This project seeks to convey the colletive experience of college students with regards to vocation. In doing so, it will address what the authors believe to be a compelling problem among students: perplexity, anxiety and confusion when they consider their calling. Similarly, colleges are at a loss with how to help. A current temptation among colleges and universities is to confer degrees as quickly as possible while using the least amount of resources to do so. This further stunts student growth, as many enter into the university without a strong understanding of vocation, then rush their degrees without understanding their calling. The trend of finishing quickly and not focusing on developing a purpose creates a risk of emerging adults wandering listlessly in thier post-college years.
